2008 comes to an end at Disney!

The Titan magic ran out while at Disney in the semi-finals of the consolation bracket against the Shore Gulls (8-5). The squad finished the Disney tournament with a 2-4 mark but lost 3 of the 4 games by 3 runs or less.

The Kennesaw Titans advanced to the semi-finals by securing a 12-2 victory over the Cayman Island team behind a strong performance by Robert Daly. After the 8am contest, the team came back for a 1pm game against the Gulls. After the game before them ran over, the contest started at 1:45pm. The Titans fell behind 2-0 and then had an hour + rain delay and the delay threw starting pitcher off his game and the squad fell behind 5-o. However, the team came flying back in the top of the 5th inning with a 5 run explosion - then the rains came again....too stay. After leaving the field, the team waited until 6pm to hear that the game had been cancelled and that they would finish the contest on Wednesday at 9am. The momentum gained on Tuesday was gone on Wednesday and the Gulls pulled away with an 8-5 victory.

It has been an incredible year for the Titan team who finished the spring (42-14-2) and their combined fall & spring record was (50-17-2)!

The team will take a few week break and then many of the squad will return, with some new additions, to begin workouts in preparation for their fall high school teams!

Thanks to the Titan sponsors and parents who made this "magical season" possible!!

Hot Days - Cold Bats

After taking the first game of the Disney tourney, the Titans(41-13-2) stumbled through their next three games against Key West, Puerto Rico and the Southeast Idaho Cyclones. After a tough 3-0 loss to Key West, the Titans battled some poor umpiring that was truly game changing and ended up losing to the King Arecibo squad from Puerto Rico 15-3. The final day of pool play on Sunday once again found the Titans pitching solid from Brent Duncan & Jordan Williams but the the bats were cold and the squad came up short 6-4.

The loss sent the squad to the consolation bracket which begins on Tuesday. The team will work hard to bring home some tourney hardware from their great trip to Orlando!

Titans Come up Short in Game 2

The Kennesaw team (41-11-1)once again played another tough game in the Disney Festival against a strong Key West Squad but came up a little short in this 7 inning affair. The Titans battled but could not push across runs when they had the chance and came up short 3-0. DaMarkus Green went the way in the contest and all of the runs scored by the Key West team were unearned.

Brent Duncan will take the hill on Friday against Puerto Rico in pool play.

Titans win game one at Disney!

The Kennesaw Titans (41-10-2) opened their "Salute to Baseball Tourney" at Disney with a 2-0 dramatic victory over the Southside Express from Illinois. 40

On a cold day in early February while the Titans were doing speed & agility and hitting in the indoor cages, the squad set a goal of 40 wins for the 2008 season! On a hot & muggy Saturday in late June, the team accomplished their goal while sweeping a doubleheader from a tough Murphy (NC) Eagles team (9-0 in game one and 7-0) in game two.

Behind the stellar two hit pitching in game one of Tyler Ayres and some powerful hitting by the Titan squad the team built a 9-0 lead and held the Eagles there for the duration of the contest. The team saw some of the best pitching they had seen all season and took advantage of some walks and key Eagle miscues in the field and added in some timely hits to get the 9 runs across the plate.

Game two saw Brent Duncan take the hill and one-hit the Eagles and DaMarkus Green came in to shut the door in the last inning to hold the 7-0 advantage. Green also hit his second homerun of the season off a hard throwing Eagles pitcher.

The Titans now head to Disney's Salute to Disney tourney with a 40-10-2 mark. After a Monday evening workout at Adams Park - the team will head to Disney and open the tourney on Thursday against a team from Illinois in Cracker Jack Stadium (The Braves spring training home).

Titans Split

The Kennesaw Titans split a twin bill with the Sandy Plains Prowlers & Alpharetta Cougars. The Prowlers, the USSSA (AAA) State Champions, handed the Titans a first game defeat 10-0. The Prowlers hit the ball hard and made the necessary plays to ensure a shutout victory. The Titans mustered up a bases loaded rally in the last inning but could not push any runs across. The loss dropped the squad to (35-10-2) on the season

After a quick lunch, lots of rain and some steamy weather, the boys from Kennesaw got back to their winning ways by defeating the Alpharetta Cougars 10-3. Sean Villalobos, Raymond Monasterski, Casey Linch & Brent Duncan combined for the victory. The squad struck early & often to seal the 36th win of the season.

USTBA National 14U State Champions

The Kennesaw Titans began Father's Day at the cages at 7am getting ready for their American division first round match up against the NYO Red Devils. The Titans had a 6-3 lead behind the strong pitching of Brent Duncan until the last inning when the Red Devils tied it up 6-6 and then pulled away in extra innings to take a 10-6 victory in the 8am contest.

The loss dropped the Titans to the National division where the team had to drive across to Harrison Park in East Cobb to face off in a noon match up with the Alpharetta Cougars. The Titans played like a team still reeling from the early AM loss and fell behind to the Cougars 4-0. However DaMarkus Green settled in and the team came roaring back and finished with a walk off single to knock in the winning run and take a 5-4 victory in the last inning.

As soon as the game was completed the Titans faced off against first round foe, the South Forsyth War Eagles, and the team continued their hot streak & hot hitting and Jordan Williams pitched a 7 inning complete game and the team took a 9-4 victory over a very good War Eagle team.

After the win over the War Eagles, the squad traveled back across town to face off in the 5:30pm championship game at Big Shanty Park against the Sandy Plains Wildcats. The game was a back & forth affair for much of the evening before the Titans pulled away with some more clutch hitting and great baserunning to secure a 12-6 championship victory! Scoop Villalobos, Brent Duncan & Tyler Ayres combined in the 7 inning effort to help the Titans get the 14u National State Championship. The squad walked off the field after 8:15pm which was 13 hours from they had first arrived in the morning!

The Titans do not quit and never stop attacking and the squad epitomozes what a true baseball team is all about!! Way to go Titans!! The Kennesaw Titans finished the USTBA State tourney with a 5-1 record! The team now looks forward to the Hardcore baseball tourney in Conyers next weekend!

Titans over Eagles

The Kennesaw Titans(30-8-2) secured at least a first place tie in the Northwest Georgia Baseball western division with a huge come from behind victory over the East Cobb Eagles 9-6. The Eagles jumped to a 6-2 lead in the 2nd inning but that was all of the scoring the Eagles would do on the evening. Brent "Big Country" Duncan came in and shut the door on the Eagles and held them at bay through the 5th inning. The Titans bats came alive a long homerun over the centerfield fence by DaMarkus Green and big doubles by Shawn Villalobos and Jordan Williams to take a 9-6 lead. Tyler Ayres came in for the last inning and struck out the side!

The win gave the Titans 30 for the spring and gave some great momentum going into the USTBA State Championships at Big Shanty this coming weekend. The squad will open up with the South Forsyth War Eagles on Thursday at 8pm and then the McDonough Blaze on Friday at 8pm.

Titans take two

The Kennesaw Titans(29-8-2) returned from their one week break to begin their final half of the season. The squad did not waste any time by putting up 5 runs in the first inning and cruising to a 7-1 first game victory over the BM Yankees. Tyler Ayres threw 3 strong innings and kept the Yankees at bay.

The 98 degree heat did not take any life out of the Titan bats as they put up 11 runs in the second half of the twin bill. This was more than enough room for Brent Duncan who held the Yankees to one run once again with some strong pitching and solid defense behind him.

The squad will return to action in the USTBA State Tourney at Big Shanty Park this coming weekend (June 12-15, 2008).

Titans prevail

The Kennesaw Titans (27-8-2) had not been in a game for over a week due to a rainout and a game that was canceled. The squad returned to action against the West Cobb Longhorns in a scrimmage game at Big Shanty Park in Kennesaw. The Titans took advantage of some walks in the top of the first with some timely hits to push the runners across and took a 9-0 first inning lead. The Longhorns bounced back with 4 of their own in the bottom of the first and it stayed that way until the third when the Titans scored another run on an infield fielders choice to take a 10-4 lead. The Longhorns turned the tables on the Titans by scoring 5 of their own in the bottom of the third to bring the score to 10-9. Tyler Ayres took the hill to get his work in and held the Longhorns there for the remainder of the game and the Kennesaw team then scored 8 in the top of the 5th to break open the game and eventually hold on for an 18-9 scrimmage game victory. The team will participate Saturday in an intrasquad game and return to action on Sunday June 9, 2008 at Adams Park.

Titans take 2nd place!

The squad faced the East Cobb Bats in the Championship game and the Bats proved to be too much for the Titans. Playing their 5th game of the weekend, the squad had to dig deep down in their bullpen to 3 arms that had only thrown a combined 5 innings all season. The team ran out of gas and ended up taking second place in the Diamond Club tourney.

The team will take Monday night off and return to action on Tuesday at East Cobb in a league game against the Eagles at 8pm!

Titans Win in Comeback!!!

The Titans (26-7-2)went into the semi-final contest of the North Cobb Diamond Club tourney against the Georgia Blaze a little banged up with injuries and quickly fell into a 7-1 hole. However, the squad had some fight and battled back to take a 9-8 victory! Jordan Williams came on in relief of DaMarkus Green to quiet the Blaze and keep the Titans within striking distance. After taking the lead, the Kennesaw team turned to their closer "Big Country" Brent Duncan to shut the door and get the save. Timely hits, great baserunning and a never say "die" attitude were the ingredients for the big come from behind win to advance the Titans to the Championship Game!

The Titans took the second game of the tourney by edging the East Cobb Starz 6-5. Behind the strong pitching of Tyler Ayres and timely hitting by Connor Austin & Hector Ortega, the squad scored just enough to win the game. The final out of the last inning was made on an illegal substitution by the Starz. This came at a pivotal point as they had runners on 2nd & 3rd and two outs.

Titans win game one of tourney

The Kennesaw Titans opened the North Cobb High School Diamond Club tourney with resounding 12-0 win over the Acworth Warriors. The squad jumped to a 8-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning batting around with 8 hits that inning. The boys from Kennesaw added four more to secure the five inning run rule victory. Timely hitting was the key to the Titan victory as the team did an excellent job moving runners and getting guys in scoring position home. The highlight hitting wise for the Titans was an inside the park homerun by Robert Daly.

DaMarkus Green once again looked at home on the NCHS mound and threw a five inning one hit shutout. Green carried a perfect game no-hitter to the 5th inning and gave up the first hit with two outs. The squad will now look to their Friday night contest against the East Cobb Starz at North Cobb High School at 8pm.

What a day!

The Kennesaw Titans improved their league record to (5-2) and their season record to 22-7-1 with a 4-3 come from behind victory over the West Cobb Longhorns. The Titans and Longhorns were locked in a pitchers duel with DaMarkus Green for the Titans and Zach Harrison for the Longhorns. The Titans finally got to Harrison late and Connor Austin laid down a perfect suicide squeeze to plate Cole Ragsdale with the go-ahead run. Jordan Williams came on in relief of Green and shut the door on the Longhorns.

The second game ended the 2 hour time limit in a 4-4 tie. The Longhorns got permission from the umpires to play a california tie-breaker for the scrimmage game, which had already exceeded the game time. The Titans were out of gas and finished the night losing 12-7. The two games combined to total over 5+ hours of baseball. A long day indeed!

The squad won the game that counted and now look to the North Cobb High School Tourney on Wednesday as their contest! Way to go Titans! Next up.....the Acworth Warriors!

Jordan Williams took the mound and went three strong innings and then Robert Daly came on to throw four solid frames and keep the hard-hitting Nitro team off the board. The team finished the long day with a 9-3 victory!

The weekend saw some spectacular plays by: Scoop Villalobos at shorstop with some acrobatic plays that drew raves from the Creekview High School coaches, Hector Ortega who made a diving grab in right field, Casey Linch who continued his strong glove work at first base and Connor Austin who threw out 7 runners trying to advance in the tourney. After a four hour break between games, the Kennesaw team faced off against the North Georgia Nitro in a great battle. The Nitro proved to be a formidable squad and after the Titans took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first, the Nitro scored 3 in the 2nd off starter DaMarkus Green. What a finish!

Wednesday, April 2, 2008 - North Cobb High School

The Titans finished off the first half of their season with a bang by a thrilling come back win over the Shaw Park Sidewinders! The Titans entered the final frame down 5-3 and behind a 380foot double by Brent Duncan and an infield hit by "Scoop" Villalobos the Titans had runners at 1st and 3rd. After a steal by Villalobos which put runners in scoring position, Mitch Risley promptly hit a sharp single to left to plate the lead runner and Villalobos moved to third. Now down 5-4 the Sidewinders gave a intentional walk to hot-hitting DaMarkus Green who was 3-3 on the night. Titans cleanup hitter Robert Daly now found himself with the bases loaded and he promptly drilled a double to left center to plate the winning runs! Once again Brent Duncan came in to the game in relief and held the Sidewinders to help the Titans get back in the game.

The win helped the Titans finish the first half (13-3-1) and go to Spring Break with two wins out of three nights. The squad will now enjoy a week off before returning to the diamond for practice on April 13 at 4pm.

Streak Ends

The Kennesaw Titans(11-3-1) streak of wins came to a halt late Monday night on a soggy field at Adams Park. The Titans spotted the Bats 7 runs in the top of the first and then held them there the rest of the game and then battled back with 5 runs of their own. Tyler Ayres came in relief of DaMarkus Green to hold the Bats down and Brent Duncan pitched two solid innings in relief. The Titans had the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth with one out down 7-5 and could not push the runs across.

The squad will return to action on Tuesday against the Sequoyah Chiefs at Adams Park and look to bounce back before the break! Hope to see you there!

Game on!

Bats game Postponed

Due to the wet fields, the field guys at Adams Park have closed the fields at the park which postpones the game with the East Cobb Bats. The Titans squad will get together for a good round of indoor bp today and then enjoy a steak dinner from the coaches. The dinner will take place at NorthStar!!

After starting starting the season with 2 losses, the coaches (me) bet the boys if they could get to 10-2 a steak dinner would be our treat.....now at 11-2 it is time to pay up!! Stay tuned for some great pictures from the evening!

Stay tuned for the rescheduling of the East Cobb Bats league game!

Big Win!

The Titans (9-2-1) traveled Easter weekend to the beautiful field at Hillgrove High School to face the Hillgrove 8th grade feeder team. The boys from Kennesaw jumped out with a 4 run first inning but only pushed across two more before the game was complete. The six runs proved to be enough behind the strong pitching of Tyler Ayres who went five innings while giving up no hits and only one run. Robert Daly came on in the 6th inning and got two outs while giving up two runs but with the Hawk runners on second & third and they tying run at the plate, "Big Country" Brent Duncan came in and shut the door with a big strikeout to the end the game. Duncan picked up his second save of the season.

The squad will be off on Sunday to enjoy Easter weekend at their churches and with their families.

The team will return to action on Tuesday (March 25) at 8pm against the West Cobb Redhawks. The contest will take place at the Titans home field.

The second game did nothing to cool the Titan sticks as they walked away with a 14-2 win. Tyler Ayres, Robert Daly & Brent Duncan combined on another solid pitching performance.

On the day the Titans team pounded out 38 hits and played solid defense from the first inning until the last one of the day!

Midway Blast-Off Update

The Titans cranked up with the 9am game against the Creekview Grizzlies. Behind more stellar pitching from DaMarkus Green and Brent Duncan, the Titans shut-out the Grizzlies and kept them at bay for the entire game. Also adding to the excitement of the game was a towering home run from Brent Duncan to dead center field!! 11 of the Titan players slammed out hits and the squad also turned 3 key double-plays!

After the victory over Creekview, the Titans had to tangle with the #1 seed from the other Midway Blast pool, the Buford Wolves. Once again the boys in blue had a fight to the finish as the Wolves plated a run in the bottom of the last inning to steal a 3-2 victory from the Titans grasp. Tyler Ayres pitched 4 strong innings and Robert Daly followed in relief. The game was full of excitement from the first pitch to the final play, what a game!

The Titans (2-1-1) will return to action on Tuesday, March 4 at 8pm against the East Cobb Eagles at East Cobb!

Long day

The Titans started the 2008 season with a hard-fought contest with the Hardball Warriors. The Hardball squad squeaked out a 1-0 win behind a complete game performance from their pitcher. The Kennesaw team sent 3 men to the hill (Green, Daly & Duncan) and each of them pitched fabulous! The Titans could not muster any rallies and behind an unearned run, the Warriors slipped by with a 1-0 victory.

The 2nd game of the day found the Titans once again with strong pitching from Ayres & Williams held a 5-2 lead going into the top of the 6th against the Dunwoody Renegades. The Renegades came roaring back and tied the game at 5-5. The Renegades went on to score 3 more but they were ruled as not to count due to an illegal substitution and a protest to the the tourney coordinator. The game went down in the official books as a 5-5 tie.

The squad will have to bounce back quickly on Sunday with a 9am start against the Creekview Grizzlies! Get some sleep Titans and get ready for a great day on Sunday!

Hat: Blue/Red with K
